A typical missionary week of ups and downs

Well seems like a lot happened this week which I was assuming. Back to your now normal life. I think Dallin made a good choice of what he did his last day as a normal person just relax because you don´t get much time to do that out here. Oh and yes we love the clay guy you got! Good choice we use it to stay awake during study haha. Thank you for all the pictures!! Ok now onto the WEEK!!!

Monday we found out that we were taking a bus to Frankfurt the next day early in the morning from Dortmund which meant we had to stay the night at the Sisters in Dortmund. The only problem was that we had a dinner appointment with the Günthers who are super awesome! SO we ended up getting to the Dortmund sisters house late 10.40 late! We had never been there before and took the wrong bus....that was a fun night. I loved calling President and telling him I was going to be home late....:/ but it all worked out we got there safely.

So Tuesday I woke up early and got ready then we headed to Bahnhof to get the bus. The bus was actually really nice and we found out that it was a little more than 8 € for each of us which with an ICE which is what we normally take it is around 65€ so it saved a ton of money and it was quicker and quite nice. So I am a fan of the bus. Luckily after going to bed late and waking up early I was able to sleep on the bus too :) Once we got to Frankfurt we went to Offenbach. Lots of memories came back it was fun to be back in my Golden area. We got to the church building and the Golden Trainer meeting started it was a really good meeting. I learned a lot and I was thankful that we had it. The last part of the meeting was a question answer part and they divided the trainers and Goldens in different rooms and being the only SIsters we were in rooms with only Elders!! WEIRD I was glad I got to be back with Sister Zenger after that haha. Sister Zenger also played her violin at the meeting and it was beautiful. After the meeting we hopped back on the bus and Sister Zenger got home just after 9:30. It was a long day!

Wednesday we had both of our appointments fall out which was pretty sad. So we did some street contacting with no luck haha. That was fun. After that we decided to make cinnamon rolls to give to people. So we went home and did that until it was time for ward night. Thank goodness for ward night! There was 3 investigators at ward night it was awesome! Kristin, Sister Roch and Georg (one of the Elder’s investigators). It was an awesome night too we watched this really good church video! SO that basically saved the day.

Thursday we had our German help with Bonnie and it was really good. She is very helpful and it is a good balance because we first give her a spiritual thought and then she helps us with our German. This time we picked out some music because Sister Zenger wants to do a musical number with her in sacrament meeting. So that was good. After bonnie we had 2 more appointments fall out! WOot....people! SO we called the Elders and saw if they wanted to hand out cinnamon rolls with us they said sure. So we went to a couple of people that weren´t home but then we went to Elizabeth and she was home and invited us to stay for dinner. We were able to meet her son and talk with her some. It was really good. After that we went to meet with brüder Rösler, this man is awesome. I just wish I could help him more.

Friday we did weekly planning and we met with Sister Hombürg. I love this lady. She is the really old lady I have a picture with she tells the coolest stories. She always has something we can do to help her. This time we wound up ribbon for her and threaded needles haha. Super simple things but things she really want and needed help with so that was cool. Then we met with the Glowiszyn family and wow they are awesome. I wish we could go there every week. They make you feel right at home and SIster Zenger and I taught our best lesson yet there. I think it was a wonderful night.

Saturday we met with Xicwjun at Angelika´s house and we taught about Christ on the Earth and the Priesthood. The lesson went really well. We asked Angelika to explain how she felt after her baptism and she talked about how she felt like all her past sins were gone and that she could start a new life. Xicwjun then asked how she could feel that way! So we told her get baptized but she said she doesn´t know how. We told her that we would help her so that was exciting. After that we met with Bart and Mado where Bart made us a polish meal so that was fun. They are wonderful people and I love them! After that we were supposed to meet with Kristin but she had the wrong time so it didn´t work out.

Some kind of Polish? Cactus drink

Sunday we got a text from Xicwjun saying she doesn´t like the Book of Mormon and she can´t meet with us anymore....so that was a huge downer! It is crazy how someone can change overnight... But the day got better we met with Sister Roch and she is doing wonderful and then after that we meet with Sister Neu and that was awesome as normal so it ended on a good note :)

The Castle by Sister Neu's house.

So that was my week. I hope everyone is doing great. I love you all!

January 20, 2014

So this week we made a goal to talk to more people and not only to talk to them but to talk to them about the gospel.

Tuesday we were going to the Mensa to talk to students. On the way on the bahn this guy was reading our badges and I was like if you are going to read my badge I am going to talk to you haha. So I just pointed to it as he was reading it and asked if he has heard about the church? It is funny how people don´t think we see them staring at us haha. He said no and then we were able to explain a little bit and explain the Book of Mormon. It was a cool experience until he was about to get off and he said he was Baptist and didn´t want the Book of Mormon haha. Then when we got to the Mensa we talked with 2 girls there and they were really nice but no success. After that we went to meet with our Ward mission Leader and have a meeting. It went pretty wel. I feel like he knows what he is doing. After the meeting both us and the Elders had planned to do finding on Bahns. We went together and we did Sister Elder splits. For the first half I sat by Elder Clement and Sister Zenger was with Elder Burger. We could of course still see and hear each other. We had a lot of cool experiences that night but I will just tell one. So we were talking with this guy and he had no interest and when he got up and left we saw this other guy laughing at us. We just ignored it and then we talked with this lady that sat down by us and half way through the conversation the laughing guy asks us where we are from and so we tell him. Then we tell him why we are here and what we do and he found it really impressive. I ended up being able to explain the Book of Mormon including the Restoration and then bore my testimony about prayer. He said he didn´t have any interest in meeting with us but that he respects us and I know that he felt the Spirit so maybe that was all he need at this point in his life.

Wednesday we were able to meet with the wonderful Angelika we talked about knowledge with her and it went really well. She framed a picture of Sister Miller and I and put it up in her house :) HOW CUTE! After that we met with the Pink family and that went well. We were able to watch the Restoration with them and Sister Zenger was really bold I am ready for them to come back to CHURCH!!! After that we had ward night and Kristin showed up and we were able to teach her with her grandma. It was really good we watched the Restoration with her and she loved it. We also told her that she had to start meeting with Elders because she isn´t in our area and she said that was ok but that she wants to be in the Essen ward....oh child she should have moved in the Essen boundaries then! She also says she wants to be baptized as soon as she can! Those lucky elders!

Thursday we had District meeting where we set goals for the rest of the year in our areas. That was fun....then we decided that would have a competition between Oberhausen and Essen with contacting. We made a point system and whoever wins the other team buys them something! I think that will help me talk with more people haha! After that we met with Sister Heerhorst and man she is super nice but she needs to stop making excuses of why she can´t come to church. Her goal it to be able to go back into the temple but she can´t reach that if she isn´t going to church.

Friday we had Zone Training which was good I learned a lot and hopefully will improve from what I learned. It was also fun to see Sister Miller again and for her to meet my daughter (Sister Zenger). After that we met with Sister Lichius and practiced introducing the Book of Mormon with her. She said she would pray to know which friend she needs to share the gospel with. She is AWESOME!

Saturday we went by on a less active that wasn´t there and then we met with Xicwjun with Dominic and that was an awesome lesson! We talked about how God is our loving Heavenly Father and prayer and she was amazed about prayer she couldn´t believe that it was true. She thought it was so cool! It is super nice to have an investigator with so much excitement to learn at the end of the lesson she thanked us! That was an awesome feeling!

Sunday Kristin came to church and she loved every second of it. We met with her after and then set up the next appointment when we would met with her and the Elders together. She wants to get baptized so bad haha. She first needs to know what she is doing though. After Kristin we went to our appointment with Hedda but she forgot about us but we set up a new one for Wednesday and we got a call from some Elders and they gave us a referral so that is exciting!

I am really looking forward to this coming week I feel like it is going to be full of stories!

January 13th

Tuesday started with meeting with the Chinese girl we met last week ,xicwjun. The lesson went really well and it was cool because we had Angelika as a joint teach there and she was awesome she showed so much love to her it was great. After that we met with Sister Roch and we watched Finding Faith in Christ which was good because she is now done with all the lessons and we are just building her testimony till she gets baptized. We said a quick good bye to Elizabeth because this was Sister Miller’s last day. Then we had dinner at Sister Wieker’s and that was cool. This lady always has missionary work on her mind. It is crazy!

Making s'mores as a good-bye treat.

Wednesday we said good bye to Mado and then it was onto the trains. First we went to Dortmund so Sister Miller could drop her luggage off there because she had to ride with me to Düsseldorf with 2 elders that were also training because I can´t be alone. Once we got to Düsseldorf Sister Miller got off and Sister Baylee Miller got on, yes another Sister Miller. She got on because she was being transferred to the Frankfurt international ward so it was fun to talk with her about that. Then when we got to Köln and had to switch trains and guess what? We got on the wrong train but the good thing was it was going to the same place it only took an hour longer...yaya!!!... :/ So we got to Frankfurt late and then we found out that Sister B Miller was going to be going to be with me the whole day. Good thing she was cool. So we went to president’s house and there I met Sister Zenger my Golden! She was super tired but seemed cool. So then they let them go to bed and we had a trainer meeting which was really good then we found out that they booked the day for us to sleep at the hotel on the wrong day and because of that Sister B Miller and Sister Zenger and I got to sleep in the Temple President´s home. It was really cool.

In Koln
Having some fun at the Temple President's home.

Thursday we all ate breakfast together and then we went to the paring meeting where I found out I was going to be with Sister Zenger....WOW Surprising right?!! Then we went to transfers. I got to see some wonderful people including Sister Stoker!! And then we took a 4 hour train ride home!!! Once we got home we ate and planned and went to bed!

Sister Wrathall's new companion Sister Zenger eating her first Doner

Friday our first real day together. We started off by having District meeting which was good not much had changed because Sister Zenger and an Elder were the only new ones. Afterwards we all got lunch together and then we went to Sister Zenger´s first appointment, Sister Dietz. It was awesome she ended up making us lunch and being super super nice. It was a good first appointment. Then we went to meet with Kristin but she forgot about us so we set up another appointment. Let me just say Sister Zenger is AMAZING she is talking to people on bahns, making phone calls, and talking in appointment. She is the best Golden ever! Oh let me tell you a little about her, she is 20, she was studying music and something medical, she is from Idaho and has 6 siblings: an older sister who is serving a mission in CA,a twin who is serving a mission in Argentina and then a younger sister and 3 little brothers! Pretty cool huh? Oh she also didn´t have a companion in the MTC so I really am her first comp. and she took no German before the MTC which makes her even more amazing!

Saturday I went through the members and some of the investigators with her and we did weekly planning, used our computer time and coordinated with the elders!! WOO so exciting huh haha

Sunday Sister Zenger´s first was awesome. We had two girls that came to visit our church because they had to write a paper about it or something. They were super nice and it was cool to explain a couple of things to them. Sister Zenger was talking with all the members even though she didn´t really know what they were saying back and she gave a wonderful testimony in sacrament meeting. I couldn´t be more proud of her :) She is simply awesome. Then we had dinner at the Bishop´s house and we brought Elizabeth and Bishop invited one of his neighbors it was awesome. Once again Sister Zenger was a star and was talking with this guy like the whole night even though she didn´t understand much. She has the spirit strong this one! The bishop loves her courage and desire to serve the Lord and so do I!

That was my week everything is wonderful!

Transfers

Tuesday was booked of fun things! So the first thing was we had a really good disctict meeting we talked about using time wisely not judging and there also was a tame about Star Wars.... it was actually pretty good. After that we went to the Tewes ( Bonnie) family with the Elders and they made us lunch which was good but my chicken was raw...but i decided that wasn´t safe so i told Bonnie and she said sorry and cooked it the rest of the way for me haha. After that we did our last singing trip with the Bishop and we went to this lady that was in his neighborhood when he was growning up she was really nice but at the begining said i am catholic and i am going to stay catholic but near the end she softened up haha. Then we had to go home because Germans are crazy and they are kinda a little dangerous with firework expecially when they have been drinking but that is ok we just played a game that my wonderful family gave to me for Christmas and watched a church movie :) Then went to sleep on time

Wednesday was funny it was like Zoombie land we went out side to try to do some conntacting because we didn´t have any appointments for the day and lets just say it didn´t go so well haha first there wasn´t many people out and the people that were out were coming back from a new years party and were drunk...we met some strange people and had some funny expirences this one guy sat by me on a bahn and smelled so strong of alcohol and man he was just out of it haha. We ended up using our computer time and doing paper work because there wasn´t much else that we could do haha

Thursday was better haha we were able to go to the Mensa and we talked with this teacher there and she was really nice but had no intrest :( But then on the way to our next appointment we talked with this cute chinese girl and got her number and set up an appointment for tuesday so we will see how that goes. Then we met with Angelika and she is just so awesome she has such a strong testimony and it is always fun to see what she has recently gained a stronger testimony of she is a rock.

Friday during personal study we got a call from President.... He told me that this next transfer i will be training there are 7 missionaries coming in and only 1 Sister so i guess it is really ment to be haha. He told Sister Miller that she is going to Herne which is like 20 mins away and means i still get to go on splits with her because she is still one of the STL´s. So this next transfer should be an adventure haha i am glad Sister Miller will be close to me :) After that news we went and met with Sister Roch and we taught her the Plan of Salvation again and now i think she is pretty good with everything so these next times we meet will be just reviews. Then we met with the Lichius family again and they made dinner for us and we did a roll play again and it was really good they are super nice!

Saturday we listened to transfer calls to find out what was happening with everyone else and then we went and delivered  a Book of Mormon to this hopefully investigator she wasn´t there but her boyfriend was and he said he would give it to her. Then we went with the Elders to meet with Sister Weidauer one of our ward missionaries and she is so cool she has served a mission before and she is pretty old but she was just like us she served with younger missionaries weird huh but i think it would have been fun she is really cool.

Sunday Sister Miller´s last one here it was pretty sad all of the members love her so much and there were all sad to hear she was going but happy she wasn´t going to be too far away and stake conference is coming up soon and they will see her there haha funny. Elizabeth came to church which was cool. After church we met with the Roch´s Sister Roch made us lunch and we taught her about the Holy Ghost( i used the lego thing that Sister Cookstin gave to me) she really liked it. Then we met with Kristin in her new appartment i love this girl so much and i think now that her life is in order she will be able to meet with us more :)

Well that was my week this coming week is going to be a lot of change and i am excited for it. I know that it is what Heavenly Father is wanting to happen so it makes it a little more easy haha :)
